Rob Draper,ACS an Internationally recognized Director of Photography with more than 40 years experience, widely known as a risk taker and innovator, one of the leaders and early adopters of Hi Def and Digital cinematography, whose work has won numerous awards on three continents.
From early beginnings in country Australia shooting TV news, he rose through the ranks in documentaries, TV commercials, TV series, mini-series, tele-features and feature films as Director of Photography for all the major Hollywood studios (Universal, Paramount, MGM, Columbia, Warner Bros, SONY, 20th Century FOX) and TV networks (NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC, HBO, Starz, Showtime), as well as many independent filmmakers, in every budget category.
Over the years he has also photographed many Independent Features including the widely successful “The Spitfire Grill” which won the Audience Award at Sundance and has the distinction of receiving the highest price ever paid for an Indie film at Sundance.
His wide ranging experience has seen many leading actors and Academy and Emmy Award winning celebrities in his lens, Stanley Tucci, Martin Sheen, Ellen Burstyn, Marcia Gay Harden, Mary McDonnell, Piper laurie, Donna Mills, Sharon Gless, Dolly Parton, Patty Duke, Julie Bowen, Evan Handler, Michael Chiklis, to name a few.
Amongst his hundreds of credits he photographed the hit series ED, won numerous awards for the Mel Gibson Produced “The Three Stooges” and “Spitfire Grill”, claimed the first Cable ACE Award for Cinematography for Tales from the Crypt Produced by Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon, Superman) and Robert Zemeckis (Roger Rabbit, Forrest Gump, Back to the Future) , revolutionized TV (“Draper practically creates a new visual style“ NY Times) with his stylistic visualization of The Street, and recently photographed 2 Feature Films (due for release this year) as well as working on 42 episodes of the critically acclaimed TV series, The Fosters.
